After hearing from my brothers
that they still don't know how to make rice, and they are 22 and 35 lol, I decided to teach you guys how to make white rice. Even though some of you can't believe that someone wouldn't know how to make rice, I have to tell you, It's possible!
Not to sound pretentious, but Making rice is my specialty. Thanks my wonderful Mommy!
White Rice is the main side dish in Brazil, we eat it for Lunch and Dinner almost every single day! What makes this so different is that we fry it in oil with minced onion and garlic before adding water. You can also use part water, part chicken broth. The secret is to not let it overcook because it should come out loose and not sticky.
First of all - Here is a good
tip for you:
When buying garlic or onions (and if you still leaving with mom, give her this tip, as though she already knows, she will be very proud of you) I should be without black or wrinkles, and with a firm consistency.
Curiosity:
Cut the garlic clove in half lengthwise. If there is a green germ the middle (usually there is, unless the garlic is very young), remove it.that part is responsible for the strong odor, bad breath and gastritis.
To remove the Germ:
Cut the end out.
1. Peel the garlic clove.
2. Cut the garlic lengthwise.
3. Look for the sprout running down the middle.
4. Remove the germ with the tip of your knife.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of long-grain white rice
2 tablespoons of minced onion
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of oil
4 cups of hot water
1. Place the rice in a colander and rinse thoroughly with cold water; set aside.
2. Put water to boiled.
3. Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook the onion in the oil for one minute. Stir in the garlic and cook until the garlic is golden brown. Add the rice and salt and cook and stir until the rice begins to brown. Pour hot water over rice mixture and stir. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and allow to simmer until the water has been absorbed, 20 to 25 minutes.
Tip:
You can also add some sliced cherry tomatoes once with the onion and garlic, fry them before adding the rice.
